About Matthew Brooks
Matthew is currently completing his M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He works primarily with adults, young adults, and older teens, using a collaborative, strengths-based approach rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). He blends evidence-based techniques with a welcoming sense of humor and authenticity to help clients feel supported and empowered.

He is especially passionate about working with LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, as well as people in the music and arts professions, areas where he brings personal insight into the unique challenges and pressures clients may face. Matthew is deeply committed to creating an inclusive, affirming space for people from historically marginalized communities, ensuring every client feels respected and valued.

Outside of counseling, Matthew has over 15 years of experience as an orchestral conductor and music professor. He has his pilot’s license and enjoys traveling, making music, and spending time with his partner and their dog, Nora.
